Schools that support orphans

BOFU works together with different schools in rural areas especially in central Uganda. These schools are government aided, but they lack many facilities such as desks, libraries, laboraties, textbooks, toilets, classrooms etc These schools have many students, a big percentage of which are orphans. BOFU works with these schools not only to provide textbooks, but build infrastracture such as libraries

How we started

BOFU was started by three young orphans Solomy Nambooze, Rehema Kivumbi and Naomi Kemigisha in 2012, who grew up facing poverty challenges of accessing books and other education materials. When they reached University, they decided to establish BOFU as a small community organisations to help young orphans in school. BOFU has grown from a small community organisations helping a few girls to a big NGO helping thousands of students.

BOFU focuses on delivery of textbooks to schools in rural areas, where orphans study from. We give books to individual orphans, to families where orphans live and to school where orphans study.

Girls for sciences campaigns

In rural Uganda, girls perform poorly in comparison to boys when it comes to science subjects. BOFU has stepped up its campaign of supporting girls perform better in mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological, technical drawing etc We give science text books to these individual girls from poor families, we set up campaigns in schools as well community libraries, with a focus of teachinh girls about science subjects

Building libraries

BOFU builds libraries in schools and poor communities to support students from poor families and poor communities, so that these students have an opportunity of accessing material that is being taught in class. We help students borrow these books for reading at home, use during lessons, use in group work, and so that students can conduct lessons themselves in case of absence of teachers

SCIENCES FOR ORPHANS CAMPAIGN

In this campaign, we are working tirelessly to ensure that the less privileged students get oriented with science subjects. Students from poor schools and communities perform poorly in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology compared to students in urban areas. We provide science books and materials to individuals, schools, communitiesto ensure that orphans perform well in sciences.
