Our extraordinary effective model

Community-led and locally-driven approach

Our community-led and locally-driven approach integrates development with sustainability, moving from crisis response to self-sufficiency. BOFU's model emphasizes local ownership, collaboration, and building strong local systems.

  • BOFU has a Community-Led approach:  we prioritise the unique needs and perspectives of the communities we serve. This ensures that projects are relevant, sustainable, and build local capacity. we also use local volunteers, local leaders and local resources
  • Integrated Approach: we integrate our approaches, forexample, we work with individuals, schools, libraries to implement programs like a textbook for each orphan, sciences for orphans, sciences for girls, young mothers back to school etc
  • Strong Local Networks and Partnerships: we collaborate with local community-based organizations, local governments, youth and women organisations, schools, local churhes and mosques, and other NGOs strengthens impact and reach, rather than acting in isolation.
  • Focus on Empowerment and Capacity Building: The model shifts from simple service delivery to empowering local individuals and groups.
  • Accountability and Credibility: Operating with structured and professional governance provides high credibility, which is essential for gaining trust and securing significant funding.

Textbooks to schools

We have supplied thousands of textbooks to rural schools that have orphans and students from poor families. This has enabled the students to access study material and excel in their examinations . This has significantly increased the number of students who enrol to university after secondary school

Building libraries

BOFU has built new libraries and renovated old libraies not only in rural schools, but also in the communities. We have set up all necessary furniture and we have stocked textbooks in these libraries. This has enabled students have access to books, borrow these books, use them during lessons and use them during group work and during holidays

Sciences for girls project

Sciences for orphans project

In this campaign, we are working tirelessly to ensure that the less privileged students get oriented with science subjects. Students from poor schools and communities perform poorly in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology compared to students in urban areas. We provide science books and materials to individuals, schools, communitiesto ensure that orphans perform well in sciences.

Young mothers back to school project

BOFU assists young mothers who have had a child to go back to school. Many rural girls get pregnant before they are 18 years. This forces them out of school. BOFU helps sponsor these girls after giving birth to rejoin school. We support these girls focus on science subjects in order to get a chance of getting better careers in the future
